The Change of Status process is used by individuals seeking to obtain F-1 student 在美国境内的地位. 这个过程对所有人来说都不一样 applicants, 和 the documentation requirements are different depending on your current 签证类型. The Change of Status request must be submitted directly to the U.S. 公民和 Immigration 服务 (USCIS) office responsible for the area where you currently live by mail or online using the USCIS Electronic Immigration System (USCIS ELIS). 请 请阅读I-539表格说明了解更多细节.   • Completed Form I-539, or create an online account for the submission of the I-539

You should not apply for a change of status before you have been in the U.S. 在 最少60天

You must be accepted to PCC  before you can file the change of status application 

You may not begin courses until the change of status is approved

  • Official transcripts, if either J-1 or J-1 is a current student

Important things to remember while your Change of Status Application is pending with 美国入籍与移民服务局:

  • USCIS will generally deny a COS application if it determines that the applicant had “preconceived intent” to study 和 misrepresented that intent at the consulate or 入境口岸
    • USCIS often applies the 国务院’s “30/60 day rule”
